Absolutely love role playing. I know I haven't been -here- in Akanbar for a long time, but I have played MUDS for years. Sometimes finding creative new ideas for role play is a struggle but it isn't hard for me to settle for the mundane.

If I can't find anything to do I really just enjoy playing Faralil. She is so whimsical. Sometimes naive. It is a struggle being myself and having Faralil be so polite all the time but still I find it fun. Sometimes though Faralil has a bad day and she can be mouthy, but that is everyone I suppose.

All I can hope for is that through my role play that I am putting out an impression about Faralil. I struggle not to be the cookie cutter adventurer and actually try to make Faralil have a presence or persona.

If I can't find anything to do, that is sometimes what I work on. How can I best shape Faralil.
One day I won't suck. Today is not that day.

Let's keep the thread on topic, please. We already have a "Why Akanbar isn't interesting anymore" thread that's getting plenty of its own replies. This is a rant thread.

Novices that think they know more than actually do.

People telling Aaridan that their goal in life is to kill him. For a month there, I think he heard it at least a half dozen times.

People that aren't efficient with herbs, potions, runes, etc ...

The idea that a city owns a village and that people who are obviously just casually questing are trying to "steal" that village from them, when in truth no one really cares about villages because as Chyren said, most villages and questing are broken. Ysallyra re-occupied the villages that they previously held occupied for decades before they decided to help Elysium in their war.
(The village owning is a huge problem that Elysium has always had, Lord Aten tried to get the point over that no city owns a village, but it never seemed to sink in.)

Novices coming into the realm expecting things to be given to them, when in truth they should be on the island questing till level 21 like most the older generation did.

Chyren hinted on the fact that there aren't that many new players to Akanbar, and I feel that he is right, but at the same time we have a lot of the veteran players that are quick to assume that every novice is an alt.

People that clearly have paths to pick up quest items in 1-2 seconds and turns them all in with another command and point out that others do it too? Not just once, but every single time the item appears they grab it. Good work at obnoxiously stealing quest items!

Players who talk behind people's back, but never look in the mirror. Especially of late

This has been happening a lot lately around the realm. I personally feel that after a certain time that a challenge has begun that if a person withdraws from combat they should lose an entire level if not more, just because how is Figher Aaridan supposed to know that Fighter Lucia is going to withdraw....what is the point in a challenge if the person doesn't complete it to the death? Come on people

Soldier Lucia, of the Black Legion withdraws from your mutual challenge in
          humiliation.
          3990/4000h 430/500m u>
You recover balance on your right hand.
          stab Lucia
You lunge forward and stab Soldier Lucia in the thigh with a kryllian curved
          dagger.
          You have slain Soldier Lucia.
The incorporeal form of Soldier Lucia rises above her lifeless body.
          3990/4000h 430/500m u> assess Lucia

You run your eyes over The ghost of Soldier Lucia, of the Black Legion, she
          appears to be dead.
          You are bleeding badly.
          3799/4000h 430/500m u>
The ghost of Soldier Lucia says, "Need to watch aaridan"
          3789/4000h 430/500m >
          Commander Dimetrius says, "Woopsie."
          3789/4000h 430/500m > charge n

You charge shoulder first into a huge block of ice, which shatters under the
          impact.
          3789/4000h 430/500m u>
The ghost of Soldier Lucia says, "I withdrew"

I could see a fighter withdrawing if their opponent runs back to the city to restock on potions, herbs, whatever. But at least in my opinion someone shouldn't be allowed to withdraw if they're close to death. Perhaps if they're below 50%?

Right. If you know you're going to die within one swing, one deathcap, etc etc, and withdraw, that's just lame.

I'm not saying Elysium owns any village. I'm saying that it's irritating to see people work hard to strike up trading or alliances between villages, only to see other cities take the easy way out and occupy cities without even lifting a finger. I'm also ranting because it *cough* coincidentally came the next day after I mentioned how Elysium was starting up roleplay stuff with Lymr and Baresh.
Sir Ichiban drools all over himself.
                      You say, "Ready? Ready?"
                      You say, "Go get it!"
You throw a light crystal to the up.
                      You have recovered balance.
Sir Ichiban is no longer following you.
Sir Ichiban has just ridden up, astride a warhorse.

Clearly, someone coded the withdraw option for some purpose. It follows there must be one.

Clearly, if you withdraw the moment before you die, you deserve to be raged about, and have people show just how silly it is for you to withdraw at the last possible moment. Clearly.

Also. If they're taking your villages, go to war. Take something back. You're the 'Light' city after all - if they're encroaching upon your territory, tell them its not right to just wantonly conquer villages, or they're just like Golgonath (Lol, Golgonath conquer stuff), and to allow you some room. Clearly.

No such thing as "your" villages, no city owns villages, plus like I said Ysallyra just chose to re-occupy what was lost to them previously due to aiding Elysium. Plus if you wish to throw it in, I think the villages that were occupied were all at Friendly or below status.

100% correct ole' chap, no city does own any village, and my phrasing made it sound like I believed they did. Shame on me. Then again, if the villages and questing are pretty much broken as you agreed, why bother taking them?
