Roleplaying: The Good, the Bad, the Logworthy
Discussion time!
As we all know, there are common ways to bring OOC happenings IC, via a
clever euphemism. For instance, saying that your 'soul is weary' IC can translate
to something like, 'I'm tired and should go to bed', while complaining about 'the
lag beast' (not the most clever, but it's there) lets everyone know that your
connection is horrendous.
In a discussion last night between Dimetrius and Teodre, I couldn't help but
twitch a bit when the word 'level' was tossed around in the middle of what
could have been a very moving chat. Sure, it wasn't something as bad as
randomly being interrupted with chatter about football or what he had for
dinner, but it's just one of those slight, very slight things that (for me)
can nick away at immersion.
But, this brings us to a problem!
In other games, it's not uncommon for your level to be instead known, IC, as
your 'circle of experience'. However, I've never really found that fitting for
Akanbar - especially being a rather frequent player of some of those 'other
games'.
So, what do you do in this situation? Is there really a better way to talk about
your level besides just throwing it out there, or could a better euphemism be
found? Or maybe some that are just so ridiculous, you can't bear to have
them typed in your e-presence?

Like Appraise, but requiring you to go into the library's archives itself. If nothing else, it would help strengthen the roleplay ties if what we're musing on here is acceptable.
